The Volunteer of the Month for February is Christian Zikpi
Christian is studying at the University of New Orleans for an MS. Mathematics degree (with concentration in Statistics). He is pursuing an actuarial career and is also a member of the Society of Actuaries & the International Association of Black Actuaries. Christian was former Vice President of the Ghana Association of Statistics Students, and former Secretary of the Ghana Association of Statistics Students, Legon Chapter.
Christian pursued his Bachelors Degree at University of Ghana for a BSc. Statistics with Mathematics. He attended secondary school at St. Thomas Aquinas SHS, Cantonments. Before senior secondary school, he schooled at Kekeli International School in Aflao.
Christian was awarded the first best Business Management student and second best Accounting student during the St. Thomas Aquinas SHS 60 Years Anniversary.
Christian led the delegation that got approval from the AKATSI District of Education in the Volta region to start a Volta Regional Chapter!
He led the team to Childtime Preparatory School in the absence of Noah (Lead Teacher for that Chapter)
He also got new volunteers from the statistics & math department to join Kids and Math
Christian helped in deciding what topics should be treated during arithsessions.
“It’s no secret that I love math and kids. This organization gives me the platform to bring the joy of learning mathematics to kids. Children, are a blessing and so is mathematics. Bringing the two together gives you a double blessing!”.
Christian believes that we have to work harder to cover every part of Ghana so that more children will benefit from Kids and Math.
Advice to future Kids and Math Volunteers
You are an agent of change in this course. The kids you help today are the nation’s greatest asset, they are the custodian of all the natural resources Ghana can boast of. Without these children, our country has no future. As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to assist in shaping the future of our children and, the future of this great nation. Take advantage of it!
